Friends of the Musée de l’Homme society

The vocation of the Friends of the Musée de l’Homme society (Société des Amis du Musée de l’Homme - SAMH) is to help the museum enrich its collections, support its exhibitions and extend its reach.

In 2008, the Friends of the Musée de l’Homme launched the Leroi-Gourhan research grant, awarded to an MNHN doctoral candidate whose work is deemed likely to contribute concretely to the scientific content of the new Musée de l’Homme.

The society also contributes to enriching the museum’s collection by helping with acquisitions and transferring the donations and bequests it receives. In the past few years, the society notably ensured the transfer of the Claire and Amédée Maratier donation.

The society helps with museum activities as well. It lends its support to all exhibitions organized at the Museum and organizes conferences at outside venues every year.

You too can support the museum and receive exclusive benefits:

  • Travel in France and abroad as part of cultural trips that are tailored specifically for Friends of the Musée de l’Homme members
  • Join in visits and talks organized by the society
  • Receive invitations to Musée de l’Homme exhibition openings
  • Enjoy a subscription to a newsletter on life at the museum and the society (in French).
